Encapsulated transformers offer superior insulation

HiPot Tests are used to check the insulation between primary and secondary windings. The typical industry standard of a HiPot (High Potential) test is 2,500V. Surge Rated Transformers
Torrance, CA – May 19, 2003— Advanced Components Industries, Inc. designs transformers that meet the surge test criteria of ANSI C21.1 which is the controlling standard for utility meters. The transformer can handle surges and inrushes of up to 12 kV. The typical test requirement allows for the test voltage that is applied on the primary winding to rise within 1.2 µ seconds and to drop within 50 µ seconds. Most surge testing methods are also destructive to the transformer insulation and simply sort the good from the failed parts. The company has developed a test that compares the curve of the current flowing during the surge test and this way detects transformers with weak insulation, that show corona or the beginning of ionization as well as changes in the inductance. These transformers would not necessarily fail with during standard surge testing, but the weak insulation will shorten the life of these transformers.
Transformers are available upon on special request. Transformers can be designed with load-ratings from .3 VA up to 25 VA. The typical cost of a .5 VA rated unit in quantities of 5,000 pcs is $2.00. Miniature Power Transformer now c-UL, VDE and CE approved
Torrance, CA – June 2, 2002— The smallest in the line of miniature power transformers from Advanced Components Industries, Inc. carries now c-UL, VDE and CE approvals. The testing was completed under UL1585 for Class II transformers and VDE EN 61558. The 0.3 VA rated transformer measures only 22x24x15H mm in size and is the smallest in the line of miniature transformers. The transformer is encapsulated to protect the extremely fine magnet wire and also to offer additional insulation for the 5 kV HiPot Test. The test is performed 100% on all transformers. The cost in quantities of 2,000 pcs is $3.09. Production delivery is approximately 5 weeks ARO. Sample quantities available from stock.

Complete Transformer Line, Off-the-Shelf, with Class II c-UL / VDE approval
Advanced Components Industries, Inc. introduces a complete line of c-UL / VDE approved transformers. The transformers are tested under UL1585 and VDE EN60742 for Class II requirements. Six sizes with power ratings from 0.5 VA up to 5.5 VA are available. The transformers have dual primaries (115/230 V) as well as dual secondaries (2 x 4 V up to 2 x 12 V). The complete line is encapsulated for higher insulation. The 5,000 V RMS HiPot Testing is standard. Transformers can be built to meet up to 15,000 V RMS.
